Abstract
• Production growth of the Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry of Sumatera Utara Province in the fourth quarter of 2019 decreased by 9.74 percent when compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). This decrease was mainly due to the decline in production growth of the tobacco processing industry by 34.13 percent, the pharmaceutical industry, chemical drug products and traditional medicine by 31.78 percent, the food industry by 17.14 percent, and the rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 15 , 15 percent.
• The growth of large and medium manufacturing industry (q-to-q) of Sumatera Utara Province in the fourth quarter of 2019 decreased by 8.53 percent when compared to the production of large and medium manufacturing industries in the third quarter of 2019. Types of industries that experienced a decline were industries rubber, rubber and plastic goods by 14.48 percent, the food industry by 10.88 percent, the beverage industry by 10.57 percent and the base metal industry by 6.19 percent.
• Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in the fourth quarter of 2019 increased by 9.37 percent when compared to the same period in 2018 (y-on-y). Types of industries that experienced an increase include the rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 59.47 percent, repair and installation services of machinery and equipment by 53.40 percent and the metal goods industry, not machines and equipment by 43.02 percent.
• Growth in the production of micro and small manufacturing industries in Sumatera Utara Province in quarter IV-2019 increased by 6.55 percent compared to quarter III-2019 (q-to-q). Types of industries that experienced an increase include the rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods by 25.48 percent, the leather industry, leather and footwear by 21.85 percent and the pharmaceutical industry, chemical drug products and traditional medicines by 18.62 percent.
