Abstract

• The Sumatera Utara Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) in the fourth quarter of 2019 was 110.48, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the fourth quarter of 2019 was better than the third quarter of 2019. The improvement in the economic condition of consumers was mainly driven by an increase in public income (index value 110 , 78).
• Compared to ITK in the third quarter of 2019 which is worth 98.56, it means that the level of consumer optimism in the fourth quarter of 2019 is higher than the third quarter of 2019.
• Compared to the provinces in Sumatra, the Sumatera Utara Quarter IV-2019 index value is ranked second after the Riau Islands.
• ITK Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2020 is estimated at 96.08, meaning that the economic condition of consumers in the first quarter of 2020 is estimated to be no better than the fourth quarter of 2019. The level of consumer pessimism is caused by the low purchase plan for durable goods with an index value of 83,16.
