Abstract

Farmer's Exchange Rate (NTP) is the ratio of the price index received by farmers (It) to the index of price paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the terms of trade (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
In October 2022, the NTP of Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 121.12, an increase of 1.50 percent compared to the NTP of September 2022, which was 119.33.
The increase in NTP in October 2022 was due to the increase in FTT in three sub-sectors, namely the FTT for the Food Crops sub-sector by 0.11 percent, the NTP for People's Plantations by 3.22 percent, and the NTP for the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.42 percent. Meanwhile, the FTT of the other two sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the FTT of the Horticulture sub-sector by 3.76 percent and the FTT of the Livestock sub-sector by 0.41 percent.
Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rate of rural inflation/deflation. In October 2022, there was a rural deflation in Sumatera Utara of 0.71 percent.
The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) of Sumatera Utara Province in October 2022 was 117.43, an increase of 0.42 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
