Abstract

Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
In February 2023, Sumatera Utara Province's NTP (2018=100) was recorded at 125.34, up 1.25 percent compared to January 2023's NTP, which was 123.78.
The increase in the February 2023 NTP was due to an increase in the NTP of two sub-sectors, namely the NTP in the Food Crops sub-sector by 1.95 percent and the NTP in the People's Plantation Plantation sub-sector by 1.92 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of three other sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the Horticulture sub-sector by 2.06 percent, the NTP in the Livestock sub-sector by 1.80 percent, and the NTP in the Fisheries sub-sector by 0.10 percent.
Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect rural inflation/deflation rates. In February 2023, there was rural inflation in North Sumatra of 0.23 percent.
The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for Sumatera Utara Province in February 2023 was 123.23 or an increase of 1.40 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
