Abstract

  • The economy of Sumatera Utara first quarter of 2023, at current prices, reached Rp. 251.95 trillion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp. 145.71 trillion.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 experienced a contraction of 0.45 percent (q-to-q). From the production side, the highest growth was in Financial and Insurance Services of 2.70 percent. From the expenditure side, the Government Consumption Expenditure (PK-P) component experienced the highest contraction of 11.05 percent.
  • The economy of Sumatera Utara in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter of 2022 grew by 4.87 percent (y-on-y). From the production side, Transportation and Warehousing experienced the highest growth of 15.64 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the highest growth was in the PK-LNPRT component of 7.46 percent.
  • Spatially, the economic structure on Sumatra Island in the first quarter of 2023 was dominated by several provinces, including Sumatera Utara Province which contributed 23.16 percent to GRDP on Sumatra Island; Riau Province by 23.05 percent; South Sumatra Province at 13.89 percent; and Lampung Province at 9.70 percent. While the lowest contribution was Bengkulu Province at 2.12 percent.
